On 31 March, through its Spanish subsidiary Gruma International Foods, Gruma entered into a purchase-sale contract with US companies Fat Taco, S.L. and Azteca Foods Inc., to acquire “Azteca Foods Europe”, the company representing their tortilla, wraps, tortilla chips, prepared foods and salsas production and commercialization operations in Europe. The transaction was for €45 million Euros. Azteca Foods Europehas a modern plant in Spain, and its products mainly go to the hotel, restaurant, and supermarket chain segments. Their products are sold in more than 19 countries in Europe, as well as in the Middle East and northern Africa, including the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Kuwait, Turkey, and Algeria, among others.
