2021 was a good year for most companies based in Monterrey that are listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV), as 16 of the top 20 companies reported higher share prices, according to information published by the BMV. Specialists said that the results were in line with the general economic recovery and specific corporate situations. Lamosa was the issuer that registered the largest increase in its price during 2021, with a 202.22% rise from MXN 37.39 to MXN 113.00 per share. Banorte reported a 21.00% rise, while Gruma reported a 10.80% increase.

Grupo Maseca (Gruma), the Mexican company specialized in nixtamalized corn flour, tortillas and wrap production, has been resilient with an optimistic outlook for 2022, despite the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. Gruma published a release explaining that since 2020, when the COVID-19 outbreak began, it has maintained its position as one of the most resilient and attractive companies on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV). Invex analyst Giselle Mojica Plascencia explained that Gruma would benefit from the economic recovery in the United States. “Gruma’s operations in the United States, a country representing 60% of its total sales, are positive not only for this year but also for 2023, despite the rising raw materials costs recorded in recent weeks.”
