The technology division carries out our research and development on corn milling and tortilla production, as well as the plant's engineering, design and construction. This division supervises the design and construction of our plants and provides advisory and training services to the corn flour and tortilla facilities' employees. The technology division manufactures the equipment for the production of corn flour and tortilla at our own plants, in addition to selling machinery for small volume tortilla production to third parties.
Innovation in product development starts with understanding the consumer's needs.
We have made impressive achievements in this area: we have designed equipment with the capacity to produce 1,200 corn tortillas per minute and 3,000 dozen wheat tortillas per hour through processes which are almost fully automated for the largest tortilla plants, located in different countries around the world.
The plant in Panorama City, California was built using the most advanced technology and is the first tortilla industry plant that is partially fueled by solar power. We began operations in March 2010
