2022 RANKING OF 100 GLOBAL MEXICAN COMPANIES. (EXPANSIÓN 201-207)
Many eggs in many baskets, a combination that has helped 'global Mexican companies' mitigate risks, so that if some break, these large companies do not suffer as much. In 2021, the contribution of the "global Mexican company" sales abroad stood at 40%, four percentage points lower than in 2020 and its lowest level since 2019. After the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the world economic situation took a breather last year. Expansión magazine publishes a ranking of the 100 global Mexican companies where Gruma ranks 13th. The operational and financial challenges that the pandemic generated in 'The 500 Leading Companies in Mexico' seem to have been left behind with the restoration of economic activities and ease of sanitary restrictions. In 2021, the sales of 266 of the 500 largest companies in the country grew in double digits, breaking the record of 248 in 2018. Only 91 companies reported a drop in sales, a level lower than the 260 that suffered from a drop in sales in 2020 and close to 76 in 2018, the year with the fewest cases. Expansión magazine publishes a ranking of the 500 Leading Companies in Mexico, where Gruma ranked 44, and ranked five in the food and beverage sector.

With the purpose of staying close to the families affected by Hurricane Agatha and continuing to address their needs, Governor Alejandro Murat instructed his cabinet members to travel to various communities in the Sierra Sur and Coast regions in Oaxaca. On the other hand, the honorary president of the DIF Oaxaca System recognized the collaborative efforts and support provided by different companies, organizations, and civil society, showing their solidarity with the families affected by the hurricane from the onset. "I want to thank all the people who have set their eyes on Oaxaca, from those who have donated a bag of beans, to large companies, such as FEMSA, Telmex, Genomma Lab, Maseca,Grupo Heineken, Grupo Walmart, the Gilberto Foundation and to everyone. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I firmly believe that we are invincible when we work together,” said the president of the Gilberto NGO.

MASECA SUPPORTS HURRICANE VICTIMS IN OAXACA WITH “TORTIMÓVILES” (MILENIO ONLINE)
In line with its commitment to Mexicans and all the communities in which it operates, Grupo Maseca (Gruma) installed three mobile Maseca tortilla shops (tortimóviles) in the state of Oaxaca to support Hurricane Agatha victims. The Mexican company implements this support for Mexicans in communities affected by natural disasters, in coordination with state and municipal authorities, supporting the inhabitants of the affected communities by supplying fresh tortillas. In the case of Oaxaca, a state affected by Hurricane Agatha,Gruma installed three Maseca mobile tortilla shops that will remain in the area until the emergency is over. Each of the three mobile Maseca tortilla shops installed in coordination with the national defense, federal, state, and municipal authorities, and with the state’s Child Development Centers (DIF), can make and distribute 300 kilos of fresh tortillas per day in each municipality affected by the hurricane, including Santa María Huatulco, San Pedro Pochutla, and San Isidro del Palmar.
MASECA TO PURCHASE CLOSE TO 500,000 TONS OF CORN FROM THE STATE OF GUANAJUATO. (AM LEÓN ONLINE (GUANAJUATO))
Maseca will purchase between 400,000 and 500,000 tons of corn produced in the State of Guanajuato and 10-grain collection centers will be certified in health and safety this year. The announcement was made by Paulo Bañuelos Rosales, Secretary of Agri-Food and Rural Development, who stressed that these are some of the results of the marketing strategy and its members whose meet every Thursday, which was carried out again in person today, after two years of the pandemic, with producers and representatives of the wheat, corn, and sorghum product systems.
