THE GLOBAL ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT DOES NOT SPOT THE MOMENTUM ON GRUMA INVESTMENTS. (SDP NOTICIAS.COM ONLINE 0) Unlike other companies that have slowed down their investments due to the drop in world economic growth and the lower sales volumes caused by the pandemic, Gruma, led by Juan González Moreno, continues to bet on its expansion. According to the financial results reported by the company at the end of the first quarter of this year, the issuer invested USD 43 million between January and March this year to continue consolidating its operations both in and outside of Mexico. Gruma currently has close to 22,000 employees and 73 plants across the globe. This geographical diversification that the company has bet on has allowed it to maintain solid growth in net sales and, hence, its profits. Furthermore, Gruma also plans to allocate between USD 300-320 million of CAPEX IN 2021, an amount higher than the USD 164 million registered in 2020, said Intercam Banco analyst Richard Horbach.

THIS IS HOW MEXICO CONTRIBUTED TO CONQUERING SPACE (Excelsior.com.mx) (Sdpnoticias.com) How did tortillas manage to delight astronauts during their trips to space? It was thanks to a Mexican, Rodolfo Neri Vela, who in 1985 became the first Mexican to travel to space. At the international level, Mexico is not considered a benchmark in exploring outer space. However, 36 years ago, in 1985, Mexico made a great contribution to the missions that astronauts continue to appreciate to this day, as tortillas allow them to maintain a healthy and highly nutritious diet during their missions. Furthermore, little by little, thanks to companies like Gruma,a world leader in the production of nixtamalized corn flour, tortillas and wraps, it has been conquering the palates of inhabitants across the globe. In Mexico, this food product is still made with the nixtamalization process that consists of cooking the corn with lime. Even flour mills, such as Grupo Maseca, use this nixtamalization process to produce their products, adding other vitamins and minerals.

STABLE EXPECTATIONS FOR GRUMA EXTEND TO 2022: ANALYSTS. (MILENIO ONLINE 0) The global economic shock caused by the health emergency caused by COVID-19 has been positive for some companies, given the defensive nature that allows them to face adverse economic conditions in the financial sector and even in terms of the foreign exchange rate. Such is the case of the Mexican company Gruma, led by Juan González Moreno, which, far from reporting damages, even during the most critical moments of the pandemic, in 2020 continued to increase its sales, income and profits, a favorable scenario that is expected to last until 2022, according to different financial analysts. This is because close to 65% of the company’s total income is denominated in U.S. dollars. Therefore,Gruma will be one of the main companies benefiting from the economic recovery in the United States and the stimulus package recently announced in that country, which is also its most important market.
