GRUMA SUPPORTS MEXICAN FARMERShttps://enfoquenoticias.com.mx/noticias/gruma-apoya-agricultores-mexicanos According to SIAP, Mexico’s agricultural and fishing information service, domestic corn production during the fall-winter 2019 cycle reached a historic high for the period, with close to 8.8 million tons harvested, representing improved business opportunities for domestic farmers. Gruma, world leader in the production of corn flour, tortillas and wraps, is one of the main buyers of corn in Mexico.

GRUMA RECORDS HIGHEST GROWTH IN EUROPE (Milenio Online) Europe became the market with highest growth for Gruma, a Mexican company with operations in more than 120 countries across the globe. The continent saw a 20% increase in sales volume by the close of Q319. According to figures submitted by the company to the Mexican Stock Exchange, net sales in the region were 110,000 tons between July-September 2019, representing double digit growth and positioning Europe as the company’s fastest growing region for the period. By business unit, the corn mill posted a 23% increase mainly due to extraordinary sales, including large purchases by some clients in the United Kingdom, anticipating a potential for disruptions caused by Brexit.

The United States Department of State and its Embassy to Mexico, in collaboration with Partners of the Americas, announced a campaign for the Innovation Fund to stimulate institutional alliances for higher education between the two countries. The campaign already has support from Banorte Foundation and Gruma Foundation, led respectively by Carlos Hank González and Juan González Moreno. (...) After 27 funding campaigns to date, the Innovation Fund has provided assistance 232 times to groups within 477 educational institutions from 25 countries and 48 states.

During the meeting, Patricia Franco discussed business incentives with the Gruma CFO that are part of the autonomous government’s plan for stimulating investment. Also discussed was the progress of the expansion project of the Mexican company’s facilities in Borox, a 17,000-square-meter expansion representing EUR 40 million in investment.
