GRUMA PROMOTES MEXICAN FOOD WORLDWIDE (Milenio Online) The corn tortilla is the icon of Mexican food since pre-Hispanic times, and like chili peppers, is globally recognized as one of the most representative foods of our country. While still an emblematic product of Mexican cuisine, the tortilla has been popularized internationally thanks to companies like Gruma. Founded 70 years ago in the northern state of Nuevo León, the company sells corn flour, tortillas, and dozens of corn products in five continents, helping introduce Mexican cuisine to palates in Asia, Australia, England, Russia, and the United States, among many other countries. The tortilla’s popularity lies in its high nutritional value, but also its inherent flexibility to combine it with practically any other food. However, in terms of Mexican dishes, the taco reigns supreme. To speak of tacos anywhere around the world is to speak of Mexico and its cuisine recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as an intangible cultural heritage.

The Private Sector and AMLO: They’re not like you, Mr. Junco (El Norte/Reforma), they’re like M. Arroyo (El Financiero)!(https://www.sdpnoticias.com/columnas/federico-arreola-amlo-empresarios-reforma-alejandro-junco-manuel-arroyo-financiero.htm) By Federico Arreola. There are few people left like Alejandro: the traditional business class of Monterrey, less than ten men and women in the private sector who have developed Mexican tourism without the help of the government. The only Mexican company that has developed technology with a worldwide impact is Maseca. This is because the company’s founder, Roberto González Barrera, may he rest in peace, decided to invest in research to discover the full range of possibilities of corn.
